THE ANGELS OF MORGAN HILL

Author Donna VanLiere tells a heart-wrenching, warm, and wonderful story of a white family who take in a black orphan boy in 1947 during the Depression. The story is captivating, and so is the author's own narration. The novel's atmosphere is easily created through her slight Southern accent and ability to make each character come to life. Even though serious issues, such as racial tension, crime, and poverty, are portrayed, the story, seen from the eyes of a child, is full of hope and redemption.
