DOCTOR WHO Death Comes to Time

Whether you find the idea of new “Doctor Who” episodes sacrilegious or enthralling, there’s much to delight the ears in this BBC production, originally produced as a Web download. This is a full-cast, full-production audio drama, with dramatic music riffing off classic “Doctor Who” themes and over-the-top sound effects that are reminiscent of more contemporary TV sci-fi staples like “Battlestar Gallactica.” The well-delivered plot concerns the familiar scenario of a megalomaniac warlord who is bent on conquering the universe and clever, gentler heroes who use wit, heart, and judicious force to keep the forces of evil at bay. But highbrow drama is not, and never was, the aim of The Doctor. Instead, expect a fantastic voyage across time and space, delivered by the BBC's best.
