THE MISADVENTURES OF SILK AND SHAKESPEARE

by | Read by John Randolph Jones

Western • 6 hrs. 15 min. • Unabridged • © 1992

During the early 1830's, sixteen-year-old Tal "Silk" Jones heads west to seek adventure and find his runaway father. Along the way, he and Ronald "Shakespeare" Smyth, a self-proclaimed actor turned mountain man, become partners. At first, narrator John Randolph Jones's deep resonant voice seems too cultured for these characters and setting. But, it doesn't take long to realize that Jones's storytelling style is a near-perfect fit. Rather than separating players through voice inflection or dialect, he spins this yarn with just enough variation to really hold the listener's attention. This enjoyable book helps stretch our imagination about early life on the Great Plains. T.J.M. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: NOV 92]
