MURDER AT THE ABA

Earphones Award Winner

by | Read by Daniel Grace

Mystery & Suspense • 9 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1976

In this hilarious semi-roman à clef, Asimov appears as a minor character gathering material for a book about a murder at the American Booksellers Association (ABA). He finds a real murder--solved by Darius Just, who bears a striking resemblance to mystery writer Harlan Ellison. Every so often there is a perfect blend of material and reader, and this is such a case. Grace's nasal superciliousness paints an even better picture of Just than Asimov does on the page. Grace's pacing is brisk but not rushed, and his subtle shifts in tone for the secondary characters are consistent and delightful. Anyone with any connection to the book business should put this high on his/her list. S.F. Winner of AUDIOFILE Earphones Award ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 92]
