Mystery & Suspense • 7 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1992

Murders abound as an idyllic island summer begins. They involve a cast complete with rich spinster lady, family secrets and curious summer visitors. Peters's cultured British voice perfectly suits Margaret Barlow, heroine and lively widow with a passion for hot-air ballooning. As the main character narrates much of the story, Peters' style compliments the audio format well with only occasional vocal characterizations helping to identify characters. She has some trouble with regional accents, but this may only concern listeners from the Northeast. Her pace reflects the story's--which seems tame despite the grim, but contrived occurences. However, Peters's portrait of Margaret is drawn with subtle humor and delights throughout. R.F.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG 92]
