THE CASE OF THE MISSING SERVANT

by | Read by Sam Dastor

Mystery & Suspense • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2009

Indian P.I. Vish Puri regrets that he must spend so much time investigating prospective marriage partners in order to earn a living. Life becomes exciting, however, when he agrees to assist a lawyer who has been falsely accused of murder, and he winds up dodging bullets himself. While Sam Dastor’s delivery sounds businesslike at times, he does a decent job with the accents. The falsetto that he adopts for female voices can be a bit strained, but one can't but help but chuckle at the appearance of Puri's Mummy-ji. Most importantly, Dastor portrays Puri as the likable detective he is: a man of conviction who is attached to his family and who is dismayed by the "progress" occurring in his beloved India.
