AN UNSPOKEN HUNGER

by | Read by Terry Tempest Williams

Contemporary Culture • 3 hrs. • Abridged • © 1994

Williams, naturalist-in-residence at the Utah Museum of Natural History, reads from her collection of stories and portraits. Observations of nature, politics and life are woven against a backdrop of the American West. Unfortunately, the author's passionate, breathy reading at times detracts from the text and overpowers the words. The material is probably more interesting in written form although musical interludes by Hank Tempest are beautiful and a delightful accompaniment. Libraries with large collections in natural history or listeners with specific interest may want the tapes, but others will be disappointed. E.L.C. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG 95]
