SANCTUARY COVE

Narrator Nicole Small’s soulful voice is a perfect match for protagonist Deborah Robinson, a recent widow in search of a new start who relocates to her grandmother’s home in Sanctuary Cove and opens a bookstore. Small’s soothing voice and deliberate, unruffled pacing capture Deborah’s calm yet wary nature. Small also credibly portrays the placid, nurturing personality of Asa Monroe as the two contemplate their growing friendship and romance. The gossiping townsfolk as well as Deborah’s teenage children—a sweet, brooding daughter and a loving, restrained son—are all captured by Small’s fresh and persuasive range of voices.
