PRAY FOR THE DYING

Bob Skinner is facing the most important case of his career in this sequel to FUNERAL NOTE, skillfully narrated by James Bryce. When a bomb explodes at a charity concert attended by many of Scotland's most important citizens--including Skinner's high-profile wife--the entire country comes to a standstill. While Bryce expertly captures diverse Scots accents, his most entertaining portrayal is that of a low-level, unconventional cop who simply questions and cajoles until he gets the information he wants or needs. With an unusually large number of suspects and motives, the story is convoluted and prolonged--which makes listening even more rewarding.
