SERPENT A Novel From the NUMA Files

by | Read by Michael Prichard

Mystery & Suspense • 18 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1999

The bestselling Cussler, author of a wildly popular series featuring hero Dirk Pitt, returns to his second series, this time with a co-author. This novel features the National Underwater Marine Agency (NUMA), along with two heroes who are caught up in a vast conspiracy to split off a new Hispanic nation from the southwest United States. Some of the scenes lack verisimilitude, and Michael Prichard's slow pacing is not the best approach for them. Prichard is known for his renditions of Rex Stout's detective, Nero Wolfe, and performs very well there, his rich tones suiting the obese Wolfe very well. But the heroes and villians in this book are men of action, and Prichard's vocal choices are at odds with the characters. D.R.W. (c) AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC/ JAN 02]
