BELLWEATHER RHAPSODY

The past is something we can never truly escape, no matter how hard we try. Narrator Jessica Almasy shows great vocal diversity in this unique story--part mystery, part slice of life. High school students and adults are brought together in a shabby hotel in the Catskills for a weekend music festival that will prove to be life changing. Throughout the production Almasy's youthful voice transforms from spunky and hyperenergetic to dark and serious. She embodies a number of characters, from male and female teens to an eccentric conductor with a Scottish brogue. While Almasy's transitions from lower to higher tones are not smooth, and words tend to get lost in the deeper register, this is a minor fault in an otherwise captivating narrative.
