BEHIND ECLAIRE'S DOORS

A sassy, sexy mystery shot through with the heat, humidity, and atmosphere of New Orleans will hold the interest of mystery fans who like some sexual tension with their murder. Narrator Lynda Evans captures the flavor of Claire's past (she was raised in the Louisiana countryside) and the emotions she feels at getting back together with her ex-husband, Dan. A beautician opening her own shop, Claire finds Dan leaning over the body of Angie, her manicurist. As Claire seeks to solve the murder, she delves into Angie's secrets, and things become more confusing--and dangerous. Evans reads easily, flavoring the narration with New Orleans speech. Some French accents are a bit overdone but aren't distracting. Evans finds and maintains a cadence and rhythm that suits the characters and the story. M.A.M.
