The vacation-home setting of Gregson's latest mystery is perfect. Everyone's secrets are are easy to hide in this temporary abode, and narrator David Thorpe captures each seemingly innocent resident. When Wally Keane, the reclusive husband of the complex's resident busybody, is found murdered, everyone is shocked. Who would kill such an innocuous guy? Thorpe adroitly portrays the diverse characters--from a newly united gay couple to a Jamaican/Kenyan couple, a school teacher, an oil rig worker, and some outright criminals. (Are they also murderers?) Listeners will feel totally engaged as good cop Chief Superintendent John Lambert and his bad-cop assistant, Bert Hook, find they have their work cut out for them. S.G.B.
