Though not one of this listener's favorite readers, George Guidall has his attributes. His courtly voice and manner are especially appropriate for certain plots, and this is one of them. A pair of detectives, a male Palestinian and a female Israeli, investigate the murder of a dozen American archaeologists in the Judean West Bank. As the unlikely team searches for the killer, the pair's personal relationship becomes more complicated. Guidall's deliberate narrration can sometimes be exasperating, but he is especially proficient when pronouncing the difficult and frequent Hebrew and Arabic words. His almost perfect handling of them gives his reading complete credibility. A.L.H. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 02]
