NIGHT WORK

San Francisco Detective Kate Martinelli and her partner, Al Hawkins, solve two sets of interconnected crimes: the identity of the "Ladies of Perpetual Disgruntlement" and the identity of a serial killer of sex offenders. Intertwined in the mystery is a mythology lesson about vengeful goddesses, particularly Kali and Candi, two vicious Indian goddesses. Alyssa Bresnahan keeps the action and suspense high with her fast-paced reading and no-nonsense descriptions of crimes, their perpetrators, and the mixed emotions of police who end up protecting sex offenders while pursuing vigilantes.
