TRAIN STATION BRIDE Prairie Romance: Crawford Family, Book 1

by | Read by Meghan Kelly

Romantic Fiction • 5.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2012

Narrator Meghan Kelly commendably tackles the voices of Boston society and rural South Dakota in 1887. When Julia Crawford answers an advertisement for a wife, she looks forward to leaving her snobbish family but little expects what she'll encounter on Jake Shelling's farm. Kelly perfectly conveys the horrid Crawford family members who continually criticize Julia, who sounds downtrodden and sad. Shelling himself is believably humorous when he realizes he did not get the "work horse" he expected. The best portrayal is that of Flossie, Shelling's sister, who has a booming voice and an outsized personality as she earnestly supports Julia. Listeners will enjoy hearing Julia's confidence grow as she falls in love with her new husband and meets the challenges of her life with spunk. This delightful historical romance is the first in the Crawford Family series. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2015]
