A good writer can pull you into any subject--even ones for which you don't already have an interest. An adept narrator does the same. The combination of Michael Bamberger's writing and Mike Chamberlain's narration brings the listener on a journey that is a bit disjointed but is smoothed out by the narration. And it IS a journey--for both the author and his traveling pal. The two embark across the country to interview and share stories with living legends of golf as well as the sport's not-so-famous. Chamberlain's steady cadence is as perfect as a beautifully stroked 7 iron, and this road trip will appeal to both golf nuts and those with but curiosity for the game's history.
