GARDEN OF MIRACLES Childhood Discoveries of the Cosmos and Other Miracles From Mexico, India & Tibet

by | Read by Andrew Harvey

Children Family Listening • 3 hrs. • Audio Program • © 2001

These stories offer a personal meditation on the miracles of the universe, from its awesome Big-Bang creation to more humble, human-scale wonders of faith, friendship, and self-esteem. Determining the audience Harvey has in mind is puzzling: Tales such as "The Frog from the Well" and "The Tiger and the Sheep" will appeal to young children, while others (his narrative about a shooting expedition, the poem "Miracles" by Whitman) may not. When Harvey--author and modern mystic--is contemplative and musing, his pace may be a bit slow for some listeners; however, this tendency is balanced by his unmistakable conviction and quick, enthusiastic descriptions, brimming with superlatives, which will draw many listeners in.
