CHARLOTTE’S FRIENDS

by | Read by Norma West

Mystery & Suspense • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1997

Growing up in a seriously dysfunctional family has a devastating effect on Charlotte Pierce and the two friends she regards as her real family. In this chilling psychological thriller, the listener witnesses Charlotte's slow disintegration into madness. Norma West's narration is well suited to the story. Charlotte's voice gets increasingly frantic as she begins to lose control of her life, and West's sense of timing heightens the tension and suspense. This performance is weakened by occasional lapses into the melodramatic. Sound quality is uneven as well, making it necessary to adjust the volume of the cassette player frequently.
