When George Guidall reads a book such as this, full of self-deprecating humor and insights into a long life, his own good humor shines through and intertwines with the author's, a sort of double helix of smiles. The author, John Gould, is a legend here in Maine. He is in his 90s now, a longtime columnist for the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR and author of more than 100 books. Here he takes us with him and his wife as they experience a retirement home in Maine.
