VITALS

by | Read by Jeff Woodman

Mystery & Suspense • 5.25 hrs. • Abridged • © 2002

Scientist Hal Cousins's search for the secret of immortality is interrupted by the murder of his twin brother. Soon he finds his own life in danger, a threat apparently related to his research. The clues lead to a mind control experiment conducted in the former Soviet Union. Jeff Woodman deftly brings out the paranoid tone of the novel, starting his first-person narration with a glib confidence and gradually taking on a less controlled personality. His reading of the novel's ending is haunting as the listener comes to understand Cousins's fate. If you're looking for a thriller in the style of "The X-Files" on television, VITALS is a good bet.
