STANDING LIKE A STONE WALL The Life of General Thomas J. Jackson

by | Read by Jack Garrett

Young Adult • 7.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2001

The life of the legendary, near immortal, Lieutenant General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson is a great topic for young adult listeners. Robertson, a professor at Virginia Tech and perhaps the greatest living authority on Jackson, describes more than Jackson's military exploits. We are shown a man who persevered through much personal tragedy and hardship and who found strength in his Christian faith. Jack Garrett gives a good, though not distinguished, reading. His narrative is clear and steady, but sometimes tends toward the monotonous. A few quotes are read with a sufficient Southern accent, and sometimes without an accent. Still, this production should appeal to its intended audience. M.T.F. (c) AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 02/ JAN 03]
