FOLLOW ME DOWN

by | Read by Tom Parker

Fiction • 13 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1950

FOLLOW ME DOWN is a dark tale of sin and redemption, but greater yet, a portrayal of the complexity of human motivations. Eight characters are presented so completely that their oddly dramatic behavior--adultery, murder, defense of guilt--seems somehow rational, or at least comprehensible. Tom Parker narrates with an understated difference in the pace and pitch of the various voices; the subtlety is suitable--a more dramatic reading, especially one exaggerating the Mississippi accents, would detract from the story's weird passion. All the characters have a gentle Southern twang, with the exception of the deaf-mute, who is read with a neutral voice. This is a solid interpretation by an accomplished reader.
