CLASH OF WINGS

by | Read by Barrett Whitener

History • 16.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1994

Writing a general history of such a conflict as huge as the Second World War is tricky: One wishes to cover the topic without becoming mired down in details. With this work, Colonel Boyne gives the listener two superbly researched and well-written introduction to the air conflicts of the war. The work proceeds in a largely chronological format that is easy to follow, not from only a local perspective, but a global one, as well. This title is a companion to Boyle's CLASH OF TITANS: WORLD WAR II AT SEA. Whitener's reading is a pleasure: clear, even-paced and precise. He also does a creditable job with foreign words--even those fearsome German ones. His voice exudes an easygoing confidence that goes well with non-academic histories such as these.
