Scott Brick narrates Gorman's story of Father Peter Madsen with a laid-back, quiet authority. His masterful interpretation brings empathy for Madsen's dilemma between his priestly vows and his need to seek vengeance for a friend's murder. The murderer is Madsen's lifelong rival and nemesis, handsome Tom Rattigan. Throw in an illicit affair, a scorned woman, and a prideful sheriff, and the story's suspense will entrance listeners. Brick's portrayal of the characters makes differentiating them easy, and the overall listening experience is engaging and relaxing.
