Narrator Dion Graham has his work cut out for him in this nonfiction exploration of volcanoes for young people. Given that the read-along book itself is full of sidebars, illustration captions, incidental questions (jokes, really), maps, "word blasts" (glossaries), and postcards, Graham differentiates between them all by using a variety of voices from serious to silly. Graham's speaking voice for the main text alternates with sotto voce for the captions to photographs. Throughout, his enunciation is clear, and he sets a slow, steady pace. Extended pauses allow young listeners to follow along with the illustrations. A.R. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2017]
