DEMON OF THE WATERS The True Story of the Mutiny on the Whaleship Globe

by | Read by Richard M. Davidson

History • 9.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

An avuncular Richard M. Davidson sounds as if he's about to break out in a chuckle much of the time. But because this book relates the true story of a bloody mutiny on a bloody whale ship, the gentle smile seems misplaced. On the other hand, his rich baritone is a comforting presence most of the time. In 1824 the whaler GLOBE housed one Samuel Comstock, who carried out a long premeditated plan to kill the captain and mates and steal the ship. Ultimately Comstock was himself dispatched by other crew members. Some of these were stranded on a remote island, and others returned the ship to civilization. D.R.W.
