THE HOTEL ALLELUIA

Amid a background of modern West Africa, an American businesswoman tries to reconcile with her half-sister, a nun. Political turmoil and the violence of revolution thwart their reunion at every attempt. This story of spiritual and physical love is lyrical and complex, populated by a myriad of characters with distinct accents. While Peter Jay Fernandez gives this international cast full voice, he doesn't manage to bring them to life. His narration is monotonous and uninteresting, more an exercise in linguistic skill than a skillful presentation. P.R.
