But the effort was far deeper and older, and this book offers a historical overview that addresses this lack of public appreciation. Suzanne Toren offers an engaging and highly listenable reading. She varies her tone and pacing effectively, keeping listeners engaged. She breaks up the author's sometimes complex sentences into segments that listeners can grasp without losing the meaning of the entire passage. For direct quotes, she pauses slightly, rather than changing her voice.
