Narrator Jane Copland convincingly captures Detective Constable Hazel Best, who is injured while protecting selfish celebrity Oliver Ford. Best and her friend, Gabriel Ash--wonderfully portrayed as a kind, unlikely hero--team up to determine whether the crime was terrorist related. Listeners will be chagrined when Best falls in love with Ford. Copland expertly re-creates myriad accents as the lovers travel to Africa and the Middle East. Sunday, a troubled youth whom Best took in, helps Ash on his quest. It's fascinating to hear Sunday's youthful hacking skills help the older Ash. The most fun comes from the spirited Franny, a Filipino housekeeper hired by Ash who is wise and hilarious. Also entertaining is the adorable dog Patience, who "talks" to Ash.
