Narrator Alexander Cendese draws the listener into the mystery of who is tormenting Maxi and why. Maxi has inherited her grandmother's farm, along with 30 cats. Maxi and Miles had a prior sexual relationship, which rekindles, and Cendese fully expresses the passion that rages between them. But when Cendese delivers the female dialogue, he tends toward a nasal quality that can be distracting. However, he does a fine job with the male voices and the narrative.
