The latest installment in this paranormal series gives listeners two love stories, and narrator Jim Frangione smoothly transitions between them. One love story is between Peyton and Novo, both participants in the Black Brotherhood training program, and the second is about Saxon, the king's solicitor, and his finding his happily-ever-after with Ruhn. Frangione provides a sophisticated tone for Saxon and a slightly lower-class one, with a hint of a drawl for Ruhn. He also captures secondary characters by giving them recognizable voices, such as the brittle tones of Novo's sister and the humor in Dr. Manello's voice.
