CREEK WALK AND OTHER STORIES

This collection of short stories begins abruptly with no introduction of the audiobook, but merely the title of the first story. Similar niceties, such as notice that the last story has been heard or a list on the package of the stories included in the set, are also lacking. The author reads with the earnest sincerity of one reading her own work. A more objective reader might have drawn out more of the personality and range of the characters, whose stories are diverse and complex. The volume is designated as "abridged"; it's unclear whether individual stories have been abridged or if the audio version does not contain all of the stories in the printed version.
