Kay Scarpetta becomes a suspect herself in Cornwell's riveting story. When the fingerprints of a convicted killer turn up after his execution, the Chief Medical Examiner's office becomes more than officially involved. Kate Burton has a light, young voice for Kay Scarpetta and does well with the other characterizations. The abridgment with its well-placed music makes the storyline taut and accelerates the action.
