LIAR, LIAR

Narrator Brittany Pressley delivers this hard-boiled thriller in the perfect wry drawl. As Remmi Storm watches horror struck from the sidewalk, a woman dressed as Marilyn Monroe jumps from a hotel window in San Francisco. Twenty years earlier, celebrity impersonator Didi Storm and her twin babies went missing after a clandestine deal in the Las Vegas desert ended in flames. Remmi struggles to make sense of her family's past and the bizarre events now unfolding around her. The action ricochets between points of view, sometimes adding depth and suspense, but more often dragging everything out repetitively. This weakness is eased considerably by Pressley's cool tone. Her character voices make for a rich cast. She turns a thick tangle of plot lines and coincidences into a satisfying cinematic experience.
