GOODBYE, PARIS

Narrator Tania Rodrigues elegantly portrays Grace Atherton, a gifted English cellist whose confidence in life has been hindered, first by an abusive teacher and then by the deceptions of her married lover. Unable to play the cello anymore, Grace has become a luthier. Rodrigues lends a tone of delighted awe to the lyrically worded passages describing the age-old art of instrument construction and repair. Nadia, a teenage violinist who works in Grace's shop, is presented with an undercurrent of youthful angst. Rodrigues gives the voice of Mr. Williams, a suave, elderly bachelor who is Grace's favorite customer, a tone of patient charm.
