Edmund Dehn brings his extensive experience in British film, television and theater to this thriller about a fugitive con artist held captive by his megalomaniacal host on a Caribbean hideaway. Dehn's ease with dialects makes his narration a treat to hear. As the main character, Jim Rush, Dehn produces a believable American accent, although the Briticisms in the author's writing often cause the character to lose credibility. Dehn proves to be a flexible performer, though, and delivers a fantastically convincing dialect for Martin Peters, a native of the southern English countryside. In the end, Dehn's work makes the audiobook a thrilling listen. R.A.P. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/MAR 99]
