Cohen looks at four war leaders, investigating the relationship between the civilian and the military. Reviewing the careers of Abraham Lincoln, Georges Clemenceau, Winston Churchill, and David Ben-Gurion, Cohen concludes that it is good for the civil to control the military. This fascinating study of iron-willed men is superbly read by Robert Whitfield. His clear and confident voice reads the narrative nearly flawlessly. He effects very credible accents (American, French, Israeli) when reading quotations. His Churchill is pretty good, too. M.T.F. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/ NOV 03]
