MORALITY FOR BEAUTIFUL GIRLS

Mma Ramotswe, owner of the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, is called upon to investigate an important government man's claim that his brother is being poisoned. At the same time, she learns that her fiancé is suffering from a new illness called depression. Meanwhile, her assistant Mma Makutsi must ascertain the morality of four beauty pageant contestants, keep the apprentices at the garage she is managing from idleness, and occasionally fix a car herself. Lisette Lecat's gentle pacing lends serenity and style to these two Botswanan characters. She will make you feel as if you're sipping a cup of bush tea on the veranda, overlooking the open African plains. An absolute delight. A.B.
