MARY MCSCARY

Mary McScary may try to be frightening, but narrator Emily Eiden takes young listeners into her mind with just the right amount of scariness. Mary's favorite activity is bringing fright to creatures and things--a goldfish, a parent, or even a balloon--and she is successful. Her biggest desire is to scare her cousin Harry McScary. What will happen when he comes to visit? Eiden's youthful voice makes for a convincing Mary--a bit of a scheming tone, a bit of elongated phrasing as she relishes her plan, some enthusiastic booing, and staccato exasperation.
