ANYONE WHO HAS A HEART

Three young professional African-Americans living in St. Louis look for love and a happy life. Theresa, a teacher, drinks in an attempt to stop the nightmares featuring her son's late father, a fire fighter. Vince loves Theresa but feels he can't compete with a ghost. Zenobia, also a single mom, runs a popular nightclub owned by her pro-athlete ex, but he keeps her on a tight leash and won't make her a partner. Each one of their stories, reflecting personalized viewpoints, is read by a different reader; all add depth and personality through their voices without dramatizing the stories. They allow Powell's multidimensional characters to shine through. D.T.H.
