A PARROT IN THE PEPPERTREE

by | Read by Chris Stewart

Biography & Memoir • 6.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2002

Life on a farm in mountainous, rural Spain provides abundant and novel substance for this collection of the experiences of a British couple and their daughter who are exploring the culture of a foreign country. The parrot in the pepper tree turns out to be a parakeet, the hired help reproduces itself more often than the animals, and the government's plans for a dam at the end of the valley threaten to inundate the family's future. Although the soft-spoken writer reads his work with a few mumbles and a little rough Castilian Spanish, he gives the audiobook a feeling only an author can give to material that comes from the heart.
