Molly Parker Myers returns to narrate the second book in the Ilke Jensen trilogy. Myers effectively portrays the Danish protagonist with a slight foreign accent to distinguish her from her Midwest family, friends, and enemies. However, the many personalities in this audiobook, who might seem interesting in a Nordic noir (like Blaedel's Louise Rick series), seem flat in the Wisconsin setting. Listeners new to the series may feel like they have jumped onto a moving train as they wonder what drove Ilke from her home in Copenhagen to take over her late and estranged father's funeral parlor in Racine. Expect a cliff-hanger ending with surprising revelations in anticipation of the final audiobook in the trilogy. E.Q. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: MAY 2019]
