Characters include a lottery winner, a one-hit band, a rescued skier, and others. Each story ends with a kind of moral or lesson. The writing, though plain, is heavy and formal for such light material, a quality strengthened by narrator J.P. Guimont, whose humorless approach give a tone of overbearing sententiousness to the volume. On the other hand, he possesses admirable diction and reads with listenable fluidity. Y.R.
