In this contemporary young adult audiobook, the listener meets Jenna, a high school cheerleader. When an unexpected falling out with her best friend leaves Jenna on the outside of their once tight-knit team, her life changes dramatically. While author-narrator Mariah MacCarthy maintains an even pace throughout their narration, they fail to elicit much sympathy for Jenna. With little distinction between most of the characters in this dialogue-heavy audiobook, there's often confusion as to who is speaking. The only character who consistently has a distinct accent, a first-generation Polish-American student, is not believably portrayed. Overall, a lackluster performance.
