Zara Hampton-Brown narrates the story of two complicated individuals who must work together to accomplish their objectives--which are seemingly at odds. A war veteran and a smuggler embark on a marriage of convenience but end up discovering something much deeper. Kit Ellingsworth would be easy to write off as a dissolute nobleman, but Hampton-Brown imbues her portrayal of him with a sense of honor, humor, and charm. Her portrayal of Tansyn Pearce neatly balances capability in matters of business with vulnerability in matters of the heart, creating a character who is wholly relatable and sympathetic. While Hampton-Brown is a trifle inconsistent in her delivery of Tamsyn's Cornish accent, this is a minor flaw in an otherwise enjoyable performance.
