WALKING ON THE CEILING

Narrator Mozhan Marno gives a sultry tone to Nunu's coming-of-age story, set in Paris. She delivers Nunu's inner monologue in a contemplative tone that underscores her ruminations on a childhood spent in Istanbul. Marno orients us to the story's deep introspection with a steady pace and precise enunciation. We are taken through the protagonist's memories of idyllic family life--at least until Nunu realizes the sacrifices her mother made for the family's happiness. Marno increases the intensity as Nunu meets one of her heroes, the writer known only as M. Readers of literary fiction will sink into this listening experience as they would a warm bath.
