Adam Chandler delivers his tribute to fast food with affection, zeal, and some humor. He even does some imitations as he pursues that most American institution--the drive-through. Mostly an enthusiast, he narrates his burger-infused stories energetically and persuasively. A fine storyteller, he offers tributes to White Castle, Wendy's, and the original Colonel Sanders that are genuinely appreciative. Chandler's audiobook celebrates the dreamers--Ray Crock and Dave Thomas--who, against the odds, founded fast food empires. He is less optimistic about the corporate takeover of most major brands. Given the real and undeniable issues associated with the industry--from obesity to nutritional concerns and low wages--his emphasis on the community value of the fast food joint seems overplayed.
