Narrator Robin Miles brings a theatrical performance to a young adult fantasy that focuses on the protagonist's response to depression. The destruction wrought by the Illucian empire has caused Princess Anthia to lose everything--including the crows critical to her kingdom's way of life. Miles delivers a sensitive and authentic performance as Anthia spirals into depression. Her dramatic narration also captures the roller coaster emotions all the characters experience, which tug at the listener's own feelings. Miles uses a variety of pitches, pacing, and accents to accomplish each character's unique voice. Her seamless narration pairs well with the author's flowing descriptions.
