Ava Collette runs from a secret in her past to a Maine summer home, where she discovers her new town is not as idyllic as it seems. Hillary Huber does a fine job with the narration, changing the pacing of voices to create the characters around Ava. Huber doesn't camp up a New England accent, which would have been so tempting and easy. Instead she offers subtle touches for the characters. An ominous male figure is given a dramatic, dark tone, while a real estate agent slightly draws out her words. The details help differentiate characters in this thriller, which meshes eroticism with suspense. M.B. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2019]
